CAMPO Transit Working Group Presentation Added

A preview of DAPR was initially presented at the RECA Membership Luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel on January 10. RECA President Tom Terkel and Board Member Mike Weaver presented an overview of DAPR to CAMPO's Transit Working Group on Monday, January 14.

The Real Estate Council of Austin is jumping into the Central Austin transportation discussion with a $101 million proposal for a new system of parking garages and bus routes downtown, dubbed "Downtown Austin Park and Ride."

The idea will be presented to the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization's transit working group on Jan. 14.

According to a RECA executive summary of the proposal, the plan suggests building five parking garages -- with about 1,000 spots each -- near the worst intersections in downtown Austin. The proposal also calls for a transit circulator system that would be rubber-tired, but would look and function like a rail car, to shuttle people from the garages to their final downtown destinations...
