TOP TEN REASONS TO JOIN RECA

It is essential for business and real estate professionals to be a part of the public policy decision-making process. Our personal and professional prosperity and quality of life is significantly influenced by public policies concerning economic development, job creation, environmental protection, public services, taxation and regulation. It is vital that we have a say in these policy decisions.

From the Home Office in Downtown Austin:

10. Be informed on current events.

9. Meet regularly with city officials and staff to discuss key issues of importance to the business community.

8. Have an effective voice, a forum for discussion and a vehicle for action through RECA's committee structure.

7. Have an advocate for quality of life and affordability.

6. Attend monthly membership meetings with speakers that cover a variety of issues.

5. Network with other professionals with similar interests.

4. Participate in RECA community service efforts.

3. Help craft common sense, innovative approaches to our region's problems.

2. Be a part of the solution. Make a difference!

And the Number One Reason to Join RECA IS:
1. Have fun!

RECA works to maintain Austin's quality of business and community life through focused, effective and continuous communication with elected officials and public entities. RECA monitors legislative and regulatory bodies that impact business and real estate. We communicate regularly with the media, the Austin City Council, Austin's Planning Commission and other public policy-making boards, as well as their staffs. Additionally, we coordinate and educate members to influence public policy. Our activities also include interfacing with policy makers on a county, regional, state and national level.

RECA is politically active through two political action committees: the RECA Good Government PAC, which supports candidates for political office who advocate responsible public positions, and the RECA Business M-PAC, which supports or opposes public issues, votes or referendums of interest to the business community in Austin.
